Just a short stroll from the quieter corners of Venice, this Italian eatery feels like a warm local hideaway with its cosy, casual atmosphere and a welcoming team behind the counter. It's the kind of place where you can opt to sit outside on a sunny day or enjoy a relaxed meal indoors, whether alone or with a group.
The menu leans into fresh, authentic Italian cuisine with particular attention to seafood and pizza. Many visitors are drawn here for the interesting and sometimes unexpected pizza choices, including options that stray from the usual, served on a thin, crisp crust that carries a bit of char—part of its rustic charm. Beyond pizza, the pasta dishes stand out, especially those made with fresh, handmade pasta and vibrant sauces, alongside several gluten-free alternatives that cater thoughtfully to different dietary needs.
People of all kinds find their way here—tourists seeking a quieter spot off the main drag, locals looking for a relaxed lunch or dinner, and anyone who appreciates a balanced menu that offers everything from quick bites and healthy options to late-night treats. The inclusion of a well-stocked bar makes it a nice spot for casual drinks, with a variety of coffee, wines, and spirits on offer. Accessibility is considered with wheelchair-friendly entrances and seating, making it approachable for most guests.
While prices reflect the central Venice location, many find value in the quality and freshness of the dishes, particularly the seafood-based offerings. The atmosphere tends to be calm and grounded, suitable for those who want to enjoy good conversation without too much noise, whether stopping by for a casual lunch or settling in for a relaxed dinner experience.

5 Everything is so delicious and fresh. Best pizzas in Italy! Suvo and his team are so friendly. Best place in Italy ! Our favorite
4 Very unique pizza offerings with a nice thin (albeit slightly burnt) crust. We got an interesting one with clams and mussels. Had a great salmon/tuna/swordfish carpaccio for €25. Great price for what you get. If you're on a budget definitely come to this cute tucked away place!
5 The most amazing pesto pasta I have ever tasted!!! Handmade and fresh - it certainly showed!! Every single bite was so full of rich flavor and delight. Perfect portion size - it was very filling! I usually experience unpleasant symptoms when eating gluten, but I was able to eat this without negative effects! They also do have quite a few gluten free options. My husband got a GF pizza, which was delicious. Staff were cordial and looked like they actually enjoyed working there! Nice atmosphere inside and out. I am still missing that pasta!! (We ate lunch here on 5/19/25)
5 Speechless. No words. This is the best authentic Italian restaurant you will come across in Venice. This place is a seafood heaven, and if you’re a seafood lover, you should consider this a must. The freshest seafood in northeastern Italy. Not to mention, the service is amazing, and the restaurant has 5 star ambience and decor. Venice, you have done me well. Readers, do not worry I am not biased although I received a feast of seafood for free.
4 Food was great but way overpriced. Definitely a tourist catered location. Everything was yummy but I would not suggest the Margherita pizza unless you want a typical American cheese pizza. ((I have high standards living in Naples!))
5 We came there by chance and didn't regret - the food we ordered was really good, fresh and tasty. The waiter was very polite and professional. The area was quite cozy, not loud, great to sit outside. Definitely worth visiting.
5 Situated on Calle Crosera in the Venetian’s Castello neighborhood, my partner, our friends, family members, and I decided on Trattoria Alla Fonte as our first meal last Saturday off the beaten path. In Italian, “trattoria" (plural "trattorie") means a type of informal, usually small, restaurant that serves traditional, hearty, home-style meals, often with a regional focus. We came there by chance and didn't regret it. Upon arrival, we were welcomed by the staff and got a table for six outdoors in a pleasant and cozy vibe among other patrons. The menu has multiple language options, offering a variety of traditional, genuine Italian dishes, i.e., pizza and pasta, and has something for everyone, including vegetarians and vegans. We decided on the Grilled Vegetables, Mixed Salad, Luna Salad, Chicken Pizza, Funghi Pizza, Margarita Pizza, and Caprese Pizza. Complimentary bread started our meal. Every single bite was delightfully tasty, using only the freshest ingredients, ensuring that every dish was bursting with flavor. The cost was slightly cheaper than other places in the area with a perfect portion size. The staff was friendly, and the service was fabulous. With its convenient location and delicious menu, it's the perfect spot for a memorable dining experience in the City of Canals, which we can recommend.
5 IT wasonenif the best restaurants experiences ever while travelling. The staff was friendly and always up for a good laugh, the service absolutely fabulous and the food super delicious!! We walked in into another restaurant prior to Alla Fonte and they didn't have a table for six. We are so happy it turned out that way and we were treated like family here.
Many guests rave about their fresh seafood pizzas, handmade pesto pasta, and gluten-free options, all praised for authentic Italian flavors.
You can enjoy both quick bites and relaxed dinners here, with table service and a cosy atmosphere perfect for lingering.
The restaurant tends to attract tourists during peak hours, so visiting slightly earlier or later than typical lunch or dinner times can be more peaceful.
